About Spring Hill College

Spring Hill College is the oldest Catholic college in the Southeast, the third oldest Jesuit college and the fifth oldest Catholic college in the United States. Ranked among the top 15 Southern colleges and universities in U.S. News & World Report's “America's Best Colleges,” its mission is to form students to become responsible leaders in service to others. Located on the Gulf Coast, Mobile, Alabama is situated at the mouth of the Mobile River and the edge of Mobile Bay. About 540,000 residents live in the Mobile Bay area, which encompasses approximately 2,800 square miles. Campus

Located in one of Mobile's most picturesque neighborhoods, Spring Hill's campus rests on a 381-acre site, is naturally landscaped, and features huge oaks, azalea-lined walkways and an 18-hole golf course. Student Body

With 1,500 students, Spring Hill College has experienced nine consecutive years of record enrollment. More than half of our students come from outside the state of Alabama. The 2008 freshman class is academically strong with an average high school G.P.A. of 3.53 and an average A.C.T. score of 24.

Classroom Experience

Eighty-five percent of our 81 faculty members hold terminal degrees in their fields. Our student-faculty ratio is 12:1, and the average class size is 17. Academic information.

Housing

We provide four-year guaranteed housing in campus residence halls and apartments. Eighty-eight percent of freshmen and 80% of traditional undergraduates live on campus. Residence Hall info and floor plans.

Athletics

A member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, Spring Hill fields intercollegiate men's and women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, men's baseball, and women's softball and volleyball. Financial Aid

More than one-third of Spring Hill graduates continue their education at select graduate and professional schools throughout the nation. Other graduates begin work at prestigious businesses and corporations, or pursue a life of service by volunteering through organizations like the Jesuit Volunteer Corps or AmeriCorps.

Spring Hill College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: telephone number 404-679-4501) to award associate, baccalaureate, and master's degrees.

Professional programs are accredited by the Alabama State Board of Education, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.
