• Laptops may be checked out by SHC students, faculty, or staff members for a maximum of 3 hours.
• Personal identification is required to check out a laptop.
• One laptop checked out per person.
• Borrowers are responsible for the laptop checked out on their library accounts.
• Report any loss or damage to laptops to the IT help desk immediately.
• Removing a laptop from the library will result in loss of laptop borrowing privileges.
• Beware of Theft!! Do not leave laptops unattended.

Loan Renewal

• Laptops checked out to users may be renewed if no one is waiting.

Overdue Fines

There is no charge to use a laptop; however, demand for laptop computers is high. To ensure fair and equitable access, hefty fines will be applied to those who do not return equipment on time.

• Overdue fines are automatically charged to patron record.
• $5.00 for first half hour overdue; $5.00 for the second half hour.
• $5.00 for each additional hour.
• $50.00 maximum fine.

Replacement Costs

• Gateway Laptop Model M405 = $1,250.00
• Patrons checking out laptops are responsible for their condition and will be charged the full cost of repairs or, if lost or beyond repair, the full replacement cost.
• Damage or loss charges will be applied to the student's college account.

Return of Laptops

• Laptop computers are to be returned on time and intact to the Circulation or IT Help Desks.
• Laptops must be returned to Circulation / IT Help one hour before closing.
