LOST AND DAMAGED LIBRARY MATERIALS

Borrowers should take appropriate care of all items borrowed from the library and borrowers will be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement of any item that is damaged or lost while in their charge.

Lost items will be billed to the user's account and may include the price of the library binding, sales tax, and a 15% processing fee. When the value of an item cannot be determined, a flat rate of $50.00 will be charged to the user for each lost item.

Damaged books and other library materials will be evaluated by the Librarian. Fines may be accessed up to the book's replacement value plus a 15% processing fee. Report damage to materials to Library staff when you return the item. Often a damaged item can be repaired without fines being accessed.

At the discretion of the Access Services Librarian good quality used books may be submitted by the user as an alternative to payment for lost or damaged books.

All outstanding charges, fees, and fines must be cleared at the end of each semester. Borrowing privileges will be suspended for any user whose account is delinquent and no student will be allowed to graduate until charges, fees, and fines are appropriately processed.

Failure to comply with posted policies and procedures may result in loss of library privileges.
