With EZproxy, current students, staff and faculty now have access to licensed Library resources without the hassle of proxy setup issues. EZproxy handles the necessary steps for quick access to needed resources. A user name and password are all you need. These are the same as those used for SHC mail.

When you select a licensed resource, such as a database or full text journal, a window will appear on your screen requesting a username and password. Your user name is generally the first initial of your first name and your full family name. For example, Jane Jackson's user name would be jjackson. and Brian Owen White's user name would be bwhite. Occasionally there are variations to the user names. For example, if 'bwhite' had already been assigned when Brian arrived at Spring Hill College he might then be assigned the username bowhite. Usernames and passwords are assigned at registration so check with the IT Help Desk if you have questions.

Removing the Spring Hill College Proxy Address for Your Computer

The old proxy method is now unnecessary and the address may be removed from your computer. EZproxy works whether or not you remove the proxy address but there could be some benefits to removing the address from your computer. For example, if you are you browsing the web and the button that tells your browser to go to the SHC proxy server is still set, your service might be slower than it need be. Removing the address would eliminate this potential problem.
